Where Are They Now 3

Big Daddy sadly passed away in 1997 after a short illness. Like him or hate him, he was one of the biggest wrestling draws we have ever had here in the UK, and was capable of filling 12,000 seat arenas long before the then WWF ever came to the UK......Blondie Barratt is still wrestling (occasionally) and runs a wrestling school in Yorkshire. This long time tag partner of Kendo Nagasaki had prior to that also enjoyed tag success as part of the Wild Boys with yours truly...Dave Taylor now lives in the States, but still comes back to the UK to run coaching sessions. Dave and his brother Steve were both great exponents of pure wrestling and were worthy followers of their father, heavyweight number one, Eric Taylor.....Dave "Fit" Finlay is still wrestling, and is still beating many an opponent. Dave is one of the best there has ever been and long may he continue to show the younger generation just how wrestling should be..........Max Crabtree used to call him "Big Fella", most wrestlers referred to him as "Stacks" of "Louie", but however he was thought of, one thing is for certain. He was BIG.......standing at 6'11" and at one time topping the scales at 52 stones! Giant Haystacks was the biggest we've ever had in this country. Sadly he passed away after losing a battle against cancer in 1998, missed my many, but still remembered......

A Blast From the Past

All our yesterday's.....The top photo shows a group of British wrestlers on their wat back from a successful trip to Israel in 1987 and includes: William Regal, Dave Taylor, Psycho Stevens, Klondyke Kate, Miss Mitzi Mueller and the UK's longest running promoter, Brian Dixon.... We then see Jim Breaks and Tom Thumb followed by Tony St Clair with a fan. He's followed by a recent photo of Colonel Brody and we have the big man himself Giant Haystacks bringing up the rear........

Hard Men of Wrestling 2

Hard men of the ring...Dave Taylor, Dave Finlay, John Quinn, Kendo Nagasaki & Skull Murphy. These guys were at their prime a generation ago and were all very much to be classed as the "Hard Men" of the ring. These guys could really wrestle. They might not have been able to do some of the modern "wrestling" moves - or acrobatics to give it another name. But if I needed someone at my side in a street fight, then any of these guys would have been at the very top of my wanted list. In fact on a few occasions I was privileged to be shoulder to shoulder with some of these guys when the going got really tough!On one occasion I recall Nagasaki and I having to literally fight our way every foot back to the dressing rooms at The Wirrina Stadium in Peterborough in 1987, after a hot finish to a match with Wayne Bridges and Bobby Barnes! (Yes Bobby partnering Wayne, and there's a story in that as well....) Mighty Quinn and I did something similar at a venue in Dumfries, Scotland in 1988...That's when wrestlers could wrestle.....!
