Johnny Smith (aka: John Savage)

Lancashire Lad Johnny Smith, real name John Hindley, who also wrestled as Junior John Savage, was a cousin of Davey Smith and trained for the pro-ring like Davey and 'Dynamite Kid' Tommy Billington at Ted Beckley's gym at Golborne, near Warrington. He made a ring debut in January 1982 at the age of 16 with our first shots from that period and also tagging with Vic Faulkner. He headed for Canada in 1985, also regularly appearing in Japan, and continued to wrestle until 2003 with the final two shots towards the end of his ring career. Still living in Calgary, Alberta, he became a police officer with the local force.
