The British Bulldog
Here we have a selection of picture from the early years of Davey Smith's ring career which began with appearances in Joint Promotions rings at the age of 15 during 1976 when he was billed as Young David. He became a big World of Sport favourite facing top stars including Dave Finlay and Marty Jones as well as regularly hitting the tag team trail partnering Big Daddy before heading to Canada's Stampede Wrestling with cousin Tommy Billington in the early 1980s, then debuting for New Japan Pro-Wrestling in 1984. Smith's glory years with the old WWF began when Vince McMahon bought Stampede Wrestling and continued until an acrimonious parting of the ways with WWF in 1992 - although he later returned to figure again for WWF and World Championship wrestling. Sadly, Davey died at the age of 39 after suffering a heart attack while on holiday in Canada in 2002.
